After flying back to Rio and touring more of its’ neighborhoods and taking the cable car to the top of Sugarloaf mountain, another famous Rio landmark, we said goodbye to some of our fellow travelers and now fly onwards to our final destination, the famed Iguaçu Falls.
Iguaçu Falls
Foz de Iguaçu, the last stop on this incredible journey. Immediately after deplaning and getting our luggage, since it was too early to check into the hotel, we entered the National Park and walked a couple of miles looking at this wonder of the world. Words or pictures can’t convey the enormity of this natural beauty. The thunderous roar and the mist rising in the air at times obliterating the view, one is unable to tear ones eyes away. The falls are 80 percent on the Argentine side of the border which makes Brazil the winner as that is where you have to be to view the many waterfalls.
Views of the tumultuous Iguaçu Falls.
Their size and scale are unlike any other waterfall on earth

Toucans, Ring-tailed Coatis and Plush-crested Jay
There can never be too many views of this wonder of nature
And finally in all its' majesty
Last day and the most grueling - having walked many miles in the heat and humidity, viewing the falls from the Argentinian side and then, to bring the kid out in me, taking a boat ride to the face of the falls and under the spray, being thoroughly soaked to the skin - a blast!
To sum up this amazing experience
This trip has been an experience. Having travelled by plane (16 flights total), train, bus, canoe, horse, motor boat and on foot, over 3500 miles in Chile plus 4700 miles in Brazil, and when you include approximately 10,000 miles internationally for a total of some 18,000 miles, it makes one realize how small this world really is.
Seeing the flora and fauna up close and personal - rubber trees, cashew nuts hanging from branches, a giant ant-eater, tapirs, caiman, piraña, tarantulas, macaws, toucans, jabaru storks, collared peccary, coati, capybara, to name a few, the memories of this trip will forever remain with me.
